The posture is never more important than the person practicing it.
The Yoga Shala is rooted in authentic Ashtanga tradition, but never in rigidity. We teach the person in front of us. That means helping you understand what you are doing, why you are doing it, and how to make the practice sustainable for your body and your life.
The goal is not simply greater flexibility. It is strength you can use, awareness you can trust, and a practice that continues to teach you over time.
“I never imagined I could do yoga. With Krista’s expert form corrections, thoughtful modifications, and supportive presence, I can now move safely and confidently.”
Teaching shaped by decades of practice—and by learning how bodies truly adapt.
Krista founded The Yoga Shala to make authentic yoga accessible without making it intimidating. Her teaching brings together more than two decades of study in Mysore, India, detailed observation, movement rehabilitation, and an unwavering belief that students deserve to be seen as individuals.
Her own experience rebuilding movement after nerve damage deepened the studio’s approach. Progress is not forced; it is created through precision, patience, breath, and the right input at the right time.
Come for the practice. Stay because you feel seen.
The Yoga Shala is serious about teaching without taking itself too seriously. The room is warm, encouraging, and free from performance or comparison. You will be challenged—but you will never be asked to become someone else in order to belong.
